How I came up with my blog name

I thought about doing a blog for a long time , probably a few years to be exact . But some how during that time naming it never crossed my mind . Because I have a FB page called Creative Maniacs. So I am at my computer decide I will use a free blog sight which I chose Google for it's popularity. I didn't want to pay for something I had no idea if I could do or not. I start the blog as Creative Maniacs after a few post I decide this name doesn't say much about me . So I make another blog , thank goodness you can just add it to the blog spot you started .
So I open the new blog and sit starring at where it says name of blog . Just like I'm sitting here starring at what to say next . Well I know I'm a little crazy , stand up for things I believe in , if you ask my advice you get what I think not what you want to hear , so I have always been a little on the hippy side , love not war , save the trees . Yes I have been to a save the trees rally . It was back in my mid thirties I believe  . They had a party after words and my Mom and sister came . Yes I said my Mom . The Save the tree people were from all over . There was a bonfire and yes they were smoking pot . The guy sitting next to my Mom was a drag queen . She didn't know until we got home and told her. Anyway he handed my Mom a joint and she says no thanks I like them filtered . I took the joint from him and passed it on down can't smoke pot in front of mom ma you know . Besides I hadn't smoked it since high school , and still don't only because it isn't legal in my state .

Well I can't just call it hippy because you all are going to think this is just about smoking pot and hanging out at the park...Just kidding . Hippy didn't really hold volume I needed to let you know about my attitude on life  ah ha...... Hippie Attitude . Now comes the part where you put in the name and it says name taken grrr. . I was lucky I just changed the spelling of hippie to hippy and bingo my blog is born .

Tips on getting along with the in-laws

Not everyone gets along with every person including in-laws . Your in-laws are a very important part of your other halves life . They will always be a part of your life so getting along really helps the relationship  . Of course there are some exceptions , but that is for another blog. This blog is about the in-law who does little things that drives you nut , or just something doesn't set right with you about them .
Holidays are usually the worst because that's when many people spend the most time with family  .
So here are some ways I kept peace with my in-laws . I am not a professional adviser but I hope they help you out .

1. So you have one of those in-laws who feeds the kids what ever they want  , when they want  . Unless it really causes issues ,. Just explain to the kids that they have different rules at the in-laws house . But your rules are the same when they come home .

2. When the in-laws give you advice on how to raise your kids , listen . They may actually have some good advice . What's it going to hurt , your going to raise them your way anyhow .

3. During a get together try relax and have fun ,  remember it is only for a short time .

4. If you have an in-law that nit picks  I feel for ya . Sometimes it is best just to ignore the comment If they are always making suggestions , just say I'll try that or I tried that wonder why it didn't work for me .  Commenting on any physical item whether it is you hair or a room color , reply my husband or wife , love it. That  always gets them .

5. There are times when speaking up is necessary , you don't want to feel you are being walked on . Always defend yourself or express hurt feelings  in a calm rational manner . If you have to leave the room and calm down or speak to them later about the indecent .

6. Try to stay out of arguments between your spouse and their parents . But if need be take your spouses side .

What makes handmade special

 You are in front of the vendors booth looking at an item that has caught your eye trying to decide on buying it . While you are thinking  know that the person who made the item you are admiring has poured their heart and soul into it . Hours of research , design , shopping , labeling . A lot goes into homemade that people aren't aware of .
 It may take up to four hours or more for me to make soap , then I have to wait twenty four hours before it is cut . My soap is ready to use when it comes out of the mold , but I like it to have a week to harden further before I wrap and label it  .
 My soaps are made for specific skin problems , so each type of soap is researched then formulated by me .

The same with jewelry or any other handmade item , designing and redesigning color selection the list goes on . So when you see a handmade item that looks as though you could make it , ask your self do I want to invest the time , money and effort or just pay the price of the item .

I guess the biggest fear is that you will get the item and are not satisfied . Make sure you get their card most artist will work with you . I know that I have and my sister-in-law also has . We want satisfied customers . 

I don't personalize my items but many artist do and this you can't get from most store . People love personalized items , whether it is their favorite color , saying , or name . It makes people feel you really cared about the gift you have given them .

Good morning , Thanksgiving is just a couple of days away and I am sure a lot of you are very busy with preparations . I am not cooking this year for the first time in many years. Actually it feels odd . But I will be okay .

 With all the activities involved with creating this great feast we must not forget to think about ourselves. It is important to feel good about our self during these festivities and to be comfortable .

Hot mess in the kitchen , it is inevitable the oven is going all day people are crowding in and you well you are running around like a crazy person . here are some tips to turn down the heat literally .

1. Turn down the thermostat or turn up the air if you are in a warm climate .

2. Put a fan in the kichen

3. Pull your hair up

4. Dress for the temperature inside the house not outdoors .

Looking good in the kitchen also makes you feel better . I know when I look a hot mess that is totally on my mind 

2. Pulling your hair up will make you cooler and keep it off your face . Also there is less chance of hair getting in your food .

2. If you sweat forget foundation and go for powder or just a tinted moisturizer .

3. Have a clean towel handy , for drying hands .

4. If you have to be dressed for the dinner while cooking , wear an apron or shirt over your clothes.

Before guest arrive if you have the opportunity to change and freshen up take advantage of it . You will feel refreshed and ready to get on with festivities .
